One of the most obvious ways that you can increase your party size limit is by leveling up the stewardship skill. Stewardship is one of the many different skills that can be raised to improve your character.

I just play the game as-is, and when I founded my kingdom, I chose policies that allow the ruler and clan leaders increased party size. I can get almost 300, and when I need more, I have a spouse party and companions to call on. How big do you think you need? I really don't use it to alter my army size, just bandits and the opposition factions.
