I would (and did) go 6 pro. Maps are useful for sure and there are a couple other features on the pro line. Battery on the 6 and 6 pro is bigger than the 6s, but smaller than the 6x. I had a 3 from launch and just upgraded this summer, still got between 1-2 weeks on a charge.

I use music function a lot actually which surprised me. I look at these things in terms of investments similar to features on a car, if music and maps might improve the quality of your experience down the line then it's absolutely worth the up front cost now. Compared to the Pro model, Fenix 6 lacks onboard memory for music and maps.
In theme with Apple Watch, the Fenix 5X has the ability to easily swap out bands/straps for different coloured ones. This is a fun way to mix up your ‘look’ and also a nice way to smarten up should you want to wear the watch to work. The down side is that the QuickFit bands are not cheap, coming in at around $70.
