The best way to think about it is to separate King Crimson and Epitaph into two abilities that work concurrently. Epitaph allows Diavolo to see 10 seconds into the future. King Crimson allows Diavolo to erase that 10 seconds from reality while everything that was fated to happen during it takes place.
King crimson skips time and deletes everything in skipped time that happened to diavolo. Look at it this way. Imagine a situation where mista fires his gun and the bullet passes straight through diavolo. Diavolo would see this using epitaph and activate king crimson before the bullet entered his body.
